May 24, 2012 – Jim Stovall Headlines Event Celebrating Accomplishments of Women

Diamonds and Dreams is an evening focused on the accomplishments of Oklahoma’s outstanding and talented women.  The event, co-hosted by REI Oklahoma and Dress for Success Tulsa, will be held at the Oklahoma Aquarium, Jenks, OK on June 14, 2012, with festivities beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Featured dinner guest and speaker is Jim Stovall, author of the best-selling book, The Ultimate Gift.  In his late teens, Stovall woke one morning and couldn’t see.  His physicians said someday he would be totally blind.  His dream to become a professional football player crashed.  Today, Stovall is a highly sought-after speaker.  His remarkable testimony of loss of sight and the mountainous challenges he faced is mingled with humor, laughter and tears but his audiences never leave the same.

Ultimately, Stovall conquered his fears and challenges which is evident in his many accomplishments.  The Ultimate Gift is now a major motion film starring James Garner and Abigail Breslin.  For making television accessible to our nation’s 13 billion blind and visually impaired citizens, the President’s Committee on Equal Opportunity selected Stovall as the Entrepreneur of the Year and he was also chosen as the International Humanitarian of the Year joining Mother Teresa, Nancy Reagen and others.

Stovall shows his audience how to overcome their own personal “blindness” and begin living a new dream and vision for their life.  He has been featured in major publications and television, Good Morning America, CNN, Reader’s Digest, TV Guide and Time Magazine.

“We consider it a real honor to have Jim Stovall serve as our featured speaker,” Sherry Harlin, Business Development Director, REI Oklahoma, said.  “Our guests will not regret attending this event and the opportunity to hear Jim Stovall as well as enjoying the Oklahoma Aquarium, our showcase of Oklahoma wineries and silent auction.”
