REI Oklahoma is pleased to announce that it has been designated as a NeighborWorks America® Chartered Member. NeighborWorks America builds skills, supplements resources and amplifies the reach of grassroots organizations to transform communities. This partnership will also allow the organization to further NeighborWorks’ mission to develop and preserve affordable housing, revitalize and sustain neighborhoods, and create jobs.
REI Oklahoma undertook a rigorous, months-long selection process to become a chartered member. This revealed the enduring effectiveness and success of REI Oklahoma’s mix of entrepreneurial and community development programs. Including REI Oklahoma, there are four chartered member organizations in Oklahoma.
“Last year, NeighborWorks made direct investment of $7.1 billion into their network communities affecting more than 360,000 families,” said Scott Dewald, REI Oklahoma President & CEO. “Being a member of NeighborWorks is certainly an honor for us and it allows us to access financial resources and knowledge to fulfill our vision of expanding Oklahoma’s prosperity.”
John Santner, Midwest Region vice president for NeighborWorks America, said REI Oklahoma’s long history of empowering individuals and strengthening communities across Oklahoma was impressive.
“REI Oklahoma’s statewide footprint will greatly expand NeighborWorks’ impact in Oklahoma, helping more people become homeowners and assisting more entrepreneurs as they work to create jobs and housing opportunities that are critical to the stability and growth of communities across the state.”
The partnership between REI Oklahoma and NeighborWorks America will increase access to financial resources, technical assistance, and training opportunities for community-based revitalization efforts.
