For the Gonzales family, moving to Oklahoma has opened the door to greater stability and opportunity. After Davinson spent time working in the state in 2025, he realized how much more affordable it would be compared to the apartment they were renting in Michigan.
The family decided to make the move, and in 2026 they became proud first-time homeowners. REI Oklahoma’s Down Payment Assistance program helped them overcome financial hurdles and take that important step toward owning a home.
“The process was easier than I thought it was going to be,” Davinson said. “This means a lot, it’s our first big step as a family toward stability. This will help us grow and live better lives.”
