Backwoods Food Manufacturing began in 1998 as a start-up company called Backwoods Baskets, a company designed to sell baskets full of homemade food products at arts and crafts shows, and state fairs. They specialize in manufacturing barbecue sauce, salsa and other sauces using only the highest quality of ingredients. The company, founded by Danielle and Michael Coursey, grew quickly and demand for their product was high. The Coursey’s built a small kitchen and warehouse on their property under guidance of the State Health Inspector in 1999. In 2002 they began co-packing for other companies and expanded to a larger location in 2003. In November 2014, they moved into their current facility in the Tahlequah Business and Industry Park. They have 12 full-time and 2 part-time employees, and have now grown to package over 400 different products for more than 70 companies, as well as producing their own line of fundraising products. You are invited to celebrate Manufacturer’s Day with them with free samples and tours on November 17th. More info at www.backwoodsfoods.com.
